The Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising helps undergraduate students achieve their fullest academic potential and fosters their growth by encouraging them to make informed decisions based on their interests, abilities, values, and goals. Our goal is to help students become self-directed learners and decision-makers as well as leaders in the IST and Penn State communities. IST students are assigned to an academic adviser when they enter the college.

Advisers help students by providing guidance and information about course selection, academic planning, IST and Penn State requirements and policies, additional learning opportunities, and referrals to other Penn State resources. We also publish suggested academic plans, which serve as curricular guides for students to schedule appropriate courses to stay on track for graduation.
