Mr. Marc Burns is a part-time adjunct faculty member and a software engineer in the Office of Research Information Systems at The Pennsylvania State University. Both his MS and BS were earned at the Penn State University. He is a member of the Applied Cognitive Science Lab (ACS) under the direction of Dr. Frank Ritter. Marc's research is centered around human-computer interaction, focusing on how users type and mouse. Marc is also interested in accessibility and assistive technologies and believes that the web is becoming a utility much like electricity; therefore, the web needs to be accessible for all.
Marc has over 20 years experience in industry as a web applications programmer / software engineer. His career started at AccuWeather as a new media programmer. In 2010, he accepted a position on the LMS programming group where his team created many applications and integrations to assist students. In 2020 he accepted a position in the Office of Research Information Systems, where he works on systems that support research administration at The Pennsylvania State University.
In his spare time, Marc enjoys volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, the Pleasant Gap Fire Company, and other worthy organizations.
