Biography

Dr. Syed Billah is an Assistant Professor of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) in the College of Information Science and Technology at Pennsylvania State University. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, NY. Dr. Billah is an expert in creating intelligent interactive systems. His research focuses on deeply understanding individuals' needs in technology, accounting for their abilities, preferences, and situations; and developing technology to empower them. He specializes in designing novel input devices, 1D/2D/3D interaction techniques, and multimodal interfaces that serve individuals who are blind, have low vision, or experience motor and speech impairments. His innovations emphasize universal design principles, ensuring solutions are effective for both target users and the broader population.
